Consistency and repeatability are the hallmarks of any successful metal fabrication shop. Perfectly cut edges are not easily achieved, and yet inconsistent cuts can resonate negatively with customers. Maintaining desirable edge quality on production parts involves many variables. Monitoring and adjusting those variables is key- but first, one must target the causes for the anomaly. One way Millerbernd minimizes edge quality issues is by laser cutting. Even then, cut quality variables range from dialing in the correct beam intensity, to basic metallurgy of the steel. It isn’t just having a skilled laser operator (although that is important) but quality is only assured with consistent procedures and excellent Quality Assurance, because the issue sometimes starts even before steel is cut. We have procedures in place to identify and reject poor steel before we even start the cutting process. This information can be found in Material Certifications provided by our steel vendors on what and how much of an element resides in your steel. Each element adds its specific characteristic to the sheet, and each must fall within certain parameters. With the combination of top notch operators and ISO quality procedures, you are assured of quality cuts. Millerbernd Laser has invested countless hours in preparation to ensure all three of our lasers meet or exceed industry standards. |
