The modern day laser was invented in 1957 by Gordon Gould (or by Theodore H. Maiman in 1960 but that is another story). It was described as the solution looking for a problem, because no one could figure out what the heck to do with it!

Now zoom to 2011, yesterday to be exact, when I was reviewing Millerbernd's customer list and was struck by the variety of businesses and industries that we provide laser cutting services for. Because of our laser's capabilities, capacity and accuracy it has become the cutting tool of choice. Here is a partial list of the markets we service:

  • Architectural – Ability to cut virtually any shape or contour gives designers creative freedom.
  • Agricultural – Supporting family and commercial farms with custom parts.
  • Renewable Energy - Providing component parts used for the internal assembly of wind towers.
  • Chemical Industry - Fabricating tanks, piping and other precision equipment and components
  • Construction – Providing custom steel building components and structures for the industry.
  • Food & Beverage Industry – Ability to fabricate large and small stainless components.
  • Mining – Servicing Midwest mining, drilling, tunneling and quarrying operations.

I believe Millerbernd Laser has an edge over the competition, not only because of our superior laser capacity, but because of our certified technicians, ISO Certified processes and accredited Quality Assurance Department. Who says you can't have great service, quality and pricing?

Wow, the humble laser is now an essential part of so many aspects of modern industry and life! It is a real privilege to work in an industry so integral to the success of our customers.
